Attorney Larissa Kiers concentrates her practice in the areas of criminal defense, estate planning, and elder law. She has spent the majority of her legal career focusing on criminal defense, and she has earned a reputation in the New Hampshire legal community as a thorough, dedicated advocate for those she serves.
In every matter, Larissa is guided by what is best for her client, not what is most expedient. She understands that behind every criminal charge is a real person whose future matters. Her extensive courtroom experience makes Larissa capable of fighting effectively; her genuine compassion makes her motivated to do so.
That compassion is what motivated Larissa to broaden her practice to include estate planning and elder law. Like so many people, she has experienced the stresses of helping an older family member get the protection and care they need, and she wanted to advocate for other families. The unifying theme for Larissa’s practice is the desire to help families through a challenging time and to protect their rights and their futures.
Larissa Kiers began her career in private practice in Lowell, Massachusetts before accepting a position in the Stratham, New Hampshire Public Defender’s Office. As a public defender, she helped countless clients navigate the justice system and advocated for clients in numerous trials. Larissa has effectively defended clients in criminal matters ranging from DUI/DWI and simple assault to the most serious felonies.
She has successfully handled several criminal trials from start to finish, and has obtained favorable jury verdicts in high-stakes matters such as felony sexual assault cases. Larissa represents clients in all types of criminal and related cases, including arrest warrants, habitual offender status, and annulment (expungement) of criminal records.
Throughout her years of practice, Larissa has become a trusted fixture in the local courts. She is respected by judges, police, and prosecutors, which further enhances her ability to advocate for her clients. Larissa’s knowledge of the system, and her reputation within it, provide her with a unique advantage in achieving favorable outcomes for her clients.
Larissa is a member of the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NHACDL) and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).
She is respected not only for her knowledge and experience, but her fierce dedication to advocating for vulnerable clients who depend on her to protect their rights. Larissa understands the importance of having a strong advocate in your corner when you are not in a position to stand up for yourself.
Larissa experienced that need in a different context when she had to coordinate care for an older family member with Alzheimer’s. Navigating all the moving parts and red tape involved in getting the needed care for her loved one (and paying for it) motivated Larissa to expand her practice to include elder law and estate planning. She wanted to not only help other families in crisis, but to be able to help families plan to avoid a crisis down the road.
Outside of the office, Larissa is an active board member of Family Reach, a nonprofit organization that provides non-medical financial support to families dealing with cancer. She lives in Exeter with her two children, one of whom is now in college. In her free time, Larissa enjoys spending time with family, cycling, swimming, yoga, golf, and trail running.
